Why ‘Dilkusha’?

Here in the heart of Peebles, Dilkusha - ‘my happy heart’ in Hindi - has been a prominent feature of the town’s landscape for more than 125 years. Built in 1897 by an Edinburgh timber merchant who imported wood from India, the building’s named after Dilkusha Palace in Lucknow, the capital city of the northern state of Utter Pradesh.

Our Philosophy

  • Supporting the Local Area

We firmly believe in supporting our local businesses whenever possible, and you’ll see work completed by local tradesmen and furnishings from local shops:

Countryside Kitchens, whose workshop’s based in Kelso, built the bespoke kitchen. Real Wood Studios near Jedburgh, crafted the kitchen worktop and living edge breakfast bar, using oak grown on a farm near Ancrum. The Fire Side in West Linton supplied and installed the stove. Peebles Carpets supplied and fitted the carpets and Haus & Co, from Innerleithen, supplied the kitchenware.

  • Attention to Details

Built to the highest quality, with bespoke soft furnishings designed and installed by local firm Atticus Interior Design, the apartment is fully equipped with everything that you would hope to find in a home of this quality. From Smeg appliances in the kitchen to a washer and dryer conveniently tucked away, and Lewis and Wood wallpaper to stoneware from Anta, all appliances and fittings you would expect to find are here.

  • Luxurious Relaxing
